8th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) Authorities received reports in September and November 2024 from two men claiming that their residences in Kennedy Town and Aberdeen had been vandalised with red paint. Following an extensive investigation, including a review of CCTV footage and intelligence analysis, police in the Western District arrested a 28-year-old local man in Tuen Mun on 7th January on suspicion of criminal damage.
The arrested individual has been charged with two counts of criminal damage, with the case scheduled to be heard at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts on 8th January. Criminal damage is considered a serious offence in Hong Kong, and anyone found guilty of intentionally destroying or damaging another person’s property can face a maximum sentence of ten years in prison. Authorities advise the public to refrain from unlawful activities.
