13th January 2025 – (Tokyo) This evening, a major earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Miyazaki Prefecture in Kyushu, Japan. The quake, which originated at a depth of 30 kilometres, registered a maximum intensity of 5 on the Japanese seismic scale.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, areas experiencing the highest tremors included Miyazaki City, Takaharu Town, and Shintomi Town, all of which reported a level 5 weak intensity. Meanwhile, Kurume City in Fukuoka Prefecture recorded tremors at a level 4.
