9th January 2025 – (Caracas) On Wednesday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro revealed that a senior FBI official was among seven mercenaries apprehended in the country the day prior. He also disclosed that a U.S. military official was arrested during the operation, facing charges related to planning unspecified “terrorist” acts.
Maduro asserted that as many as 125 foreign mercenaries from 25 different nationalities have been detained, as Venezuelan authorities work to dismantle what he describes as “a foreign assault financed by the outgoing government of the United States.”
Maduro is scheduled to be inaugurated for his 2025-2031 presidential term on January 10, following his recent electoral victory.
