Joint operation in New Territories leads to arrest of 27 individuals for illegal employment and prostitution

16th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) On 15th January, law enforcement agencies in the New Territories, alongside immigration officials, conducted a series of coordinated operations targeting illegal labour and prostitution. The operations involved surprise raids on various crime hotspots throughout the districts.

During these actions, authorities arrested a total of 27 individuals, comprising two men and twenty women from mainland China, as well as two men and three women from Indonesia, aged between 30 and 56 years. The arrests were made on charges including “breach of stay conditions,” “employment of overstayers,” and “illegal labour.”

In Tsuen Wan Town Centre, police focused their efforts on anti-prostitution activities, resulting in the detention of 17 mainland women for allegedly violating immigration regulations. All detainees are currently being held for investigation, with follow-up actions planned by the relevant enforcement bodies.
