16th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) A cargo flight from Hong Kong to Dubai operated by Air Atlanta Icelandic faced a critical situation this afternoon when it reportedly experienced engine failure shortly after takeoff. The aircraft, identified as flight CC4400, departed from Hong Kong International Airport at approximately 3.19pm but soon encountered difficulties, prompting the crew to declare an emergency and return to the airport.
Flight tracking data indicated that the Boeing 747-400 cargo plane circled over the waters south of Hong Kong as it assessed its options. By 3.45pm, the aircraft was on its way back to Hong Kong, having activated the emergency squawk code 7700, signalling a serious in-flight issue.
Upon landing just before 4pm, several fire trucks were stationed on the runway in preparation for any potential emergency. Eyewitness footage revealed flames coming from one of the engines during the flight, raising concerns about the aircraft’s condition. The exact cause of the engine failure is currently under investigation.
