18th July 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong actor Carlos Chan, who recently travelled to Malaysia to film a drama series, quietly returned to Hong Kong yesterday, likely to be by his wife Shiga Lin’s side as she undergoes a caesarean birth today.
Discussing his feelings about becoming a first-time father, Chan admitted to feeling nervous. Lin also expressed her heartfelt emotions on social media, describing the “two heartbeats in one body” sensation as an unforgettable experience of this lifetime.
Chan was spotted at the airport arrivals hall yesterday afternoon, quickly departing with light luggage, presumably to attend to final preparations before accompanying his wife to the hospital. Contacted by reporters, Chan briefly responded, “Yes, I just returned today. I had taken leave earlier from the drama crew to come back and be with my wife. The crew has been very accommodating, allowing me to choose the date. I’m starting to feel nervous now, but I’m very looking forward to the birth of our baby girl. Thank you everyone for your concern.”
In addition to his busy filming schedule in Malaysia, Chan recently collaborated with his junior industry colleague Alice Chung to shoot a 35th-anniversary advertisement for Taiheng Restaurants. In the ad, Chan portrayed the role of a multi-talented husband, and when asked how he maintains a fresh marriage, he smiled and said, “I’m still learning to be a capable husband. I often find myself calling out ‘Wait for me!’ just like in the advertisement, and I’m satisfied every time I see my wife’s sweet smile.”
Chan admitted that he is generally an anxious person, often being reminded by his wife to relax. He jokingly said, “After the baby is born, I’m sure I’ll be at level 10 nervousness, so I’ll need to prepare some stimulating beverages.” He also took the opportunity to praise his wife’s culinary skills, assuring that unlike the character Alice in the advertisement, Shiga Lin is an accomplished home cook: “She loves to cook, and she’s a great chef. But after the baby arrives, I’ll be the one cooking occasionally.”
