Fast Retailing to increase starting salary for Uniqlo employees by 10%

8th January 2025 – (Tokyo) Fast Retailing, the parent company of Uniqlo, has announced plans to raise the starting monthly salary for new employees by 10% to ¥330,000 (HK$16,200), effective March 2025. This increase will elevate the annual salary to just over ¥5 million.

The company aims to attract skilled university graduates to enhance its global competitiveness and growth trajectory. Additionally, store managers in their first or second year will see their monthly salaries rise from ¥390,000 to ¥410,000, resulting in an annual pay increase of approximately 5% to ¥7.3 million.

Fast Retailing will also implement a new compensation structure for its domestic staff, with salary increases for full-time headquarters and sales employees ranging up to 11%, based on skill and ambition assessments. Employees promoted to key positions could experience salary hikes of up to 54%.

Previously, Fast Retailing had revised its remuneration system in the fiscal year ending 31st August, 2023, increasing salaries by 4% to 40% based on performance evaluations. Chairman and President Tadashi Yanai stated that the company will continue to review compensation and organisational structure to foster a “virtuous cycle of growth and salary increases.”
