9th January 2025 – (Bangkok) A 21-year-old Chinese woman has gone missing in Thailand after travelling with an online acquaintance she had known for less than a month. This incident has raised concerns nationwide, especially following the recent rescue of actor Wang Xing, who was reportedly sold into a human trafficking scam in Myanmar.

On 8th January, a distressed father submitted a request for assistance to Thailand’s National Police Bureau, seeking help in locating his daughter. According to reports from local media outlet Elephant News, the young woman informed her mother of her plans to travel to Thailand with her new friend, but only after they had arrived.

The mother had previously warned her daughter against going to Myanmar, to which the daughter replied, “I’m not foolish; I wouldn’t go there.” She had shared her location with her mother until 4pm on 6th January, when all communication ceased.

Upon reviewing CCTV footage, local police identified a white van that transported the woman to a hotel. However, the hotel shown in the surveillance footage was different from the one to which she sent her location. Investigations revealed that she checked out of the hotel at 9am on 6th January. Reports indicate that the missing woman had just graduated from university and was visiting Thailand for the first time. Authorities are continuing their search for her whereabouts.
